Worked great in my Drill. The auger locks in and does not slip in the chuck. Made planting perennials and annual flowers easy. But be careful if you hit a root in the ground! The auger can bog down and the drill can twist your wrist. BTW, this would happen with any auger.
I used this to dig footings underneath an existing ground-level deck. I am building a kitchen on top of my deck, and realized I should add an extra beam for support. There is less than 2 feet of clearance under the deck, so I could not bring in a traditional auger or post hole digger. Removing deck boards was also not an option. So I tried this, and it far exceeded expectations. I ended up digging 20" deep, 9" diameter. This allowed me to break up the dirt, then remove by hand. I used a 10mm deep socket plus extensions to get the depth I needed.
Snap this into your portable drill and you’ll have your bulbs planted in no time. I did around 200 bulbs in less than three hours with the drilling of the hole taking mere seconds with this auger. It does bog down if you hit dense clay or compacted soil but that’s more a result of the torque capability of the drill than the bit. Sure beats digging by hand or using the old fashioned bulb planters.
The auger definitely reduced the time needed for the job. We used the auger to help replace our sprinkler system. It was a little larger than needed but the ease of use far outweighed that issue.
